Searching for Superman's Grave (George Reeves)

Go behind the sign to the Mountain View Mortuary & Cemetery in Altadena, CA, where Adventures of Superman star George Reeves is interred. I spent the day walking around the cemetery and quickly realized that I was the only person there—well, the only living person. I definitely got the feeling I was being watched.

30 Years of O.J. Simpson Conspiracies! NEW VIDEO!

30 years ago, on June 12, 1994, Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman were killed on the other side of this wall at Nicole’s Bundy condo in West L.A. You’d think with OJ’s passing there’d be a renewed interest in the case, but in reality, interest has never gone away.

A year ago, I spent 6 months working on a documentary on the OJ Simpson case, and since then, I’ve realized that a lot of people believe that OJ is innocent or at the very least, didn’t commit the actual murders himself. In this video, we’re going to examine some of the conspiracy theories.

At the end of this video, we’ll debunk them and let’s start by saying that we believe OJ did it. This is Dead in Hollywood. Let’s go waaay behind the sign.

THE NIGHT SUPERMAN DIED! (This is crazy!)

Go behind the sign to June 16, 1959. Sometime between 1:30 and 2 AM, Adventures of Superman star George Reeves died from a single gunshot wound to the head in the upstairs bedroom of this modest home here on Benedict Canyon Drive in Los Angeles. He was 45. The house itself looks hauntingly the same as it was at the time of Reeves’ death. Exactly what happened that night has never fully been resolved, and though ruled a suicide, suspicious events surrounding the incident cast doubt on Reeve’s official cause of death. This is Dead in Hollywood. The Night Superman Died. Let’s go behind the sign.

The Haunted Halls of Hollywood High

Go behind the sign and inside the historic Hollywood High School. We didn't know what to expect when we met up with our friend who gave us the tour. It turned out to be a lot more interesting than we thought! Check it out and let us know what you think. Please don't forget to like and subscribe.

Murder at Gower Gulch! NEW VIDEO!

Go behind the sign to Gower Gulch! In the early days of movieland, Los Angeles was full of real-life cowboys, and the cowpokes looked to earn cash by being extras in the Hollywood Westerns being made. The corner of Sunset and Gower was the perfect place for these cow punches to hang out due to its proximity to the movie studios. At the intersection of Sunset and Gower, a couple of cowboys engaged in an unscripted and deadly standoff in 1940, sending one to the morgue and the other to trial on homicide charges. This is Dead in Hollywood. Let’s go behind the sign…

NEW! THE RESTROOM WHERE GEORGE MICHAEL WAS ARRESTED!

On February 22, 2023, I read an abridged chapter from my forthcoming book Dead in Hollywood for Queer Spaces Storytelling Night at North Figueroa Bookshop. I chose the restroom where George Michael was arrested as my queer space!

Save the Faux Library!

Owner of the Faux Library Studio Props, Marc E. Meyer, is credited as the inventor of the faux book. Meyer's prop house - which provides fake books, real books, antique furniture, and other record for film and TV sets - is among a number of SoCal prop houses that are still recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic and the Hollywood actors and writers strikes. Meyer needs to raise $100,000 by February 1, 2023, before he has to vacate the premises and surrender everything inside. We interviewed Marc last week and took a tour of his amazing prop house to help raise awareness. If you can help Marc, please donate below, and please don't forget to like and subscribe so we can continue making the Dead in Hollywood web series! Thanks as always. NEW EPISODE! THIS IS DIVINE!

Go behind the sign to the night Divine died in a Hollywood hotel room. Harris Glenn Milstead, aka Divine, was the larger-than-life star of many of director John Waters’ movies. A female impersonator from Baltimore, Milstead went from touring the underground midnight circuit to starring in Water’s unforgettable and trashy films of the 1970s and 80s. Celebrated as the “Queen of Trash” during his lifetime, Divine was a bit of an unknown to wider audiences at the time of his death at the age of 42. This is Dead in Hollywood, and This is Divine! Let’s go behind the sign.

The Filth of Hollywood: John Waters, Diane Linkletter, and Divine (Stop no. 9)

Go behind the sign & on the boulevard to director John Waters' Hollywood Walk of Fame Star Ceremony, Diane Linkletter's apartment building where the 20 year-old committed suicide, and the now torn down hotel where Divine died. In September, I met up with Adam Papagan of Cool L.A. Tours at our office at Artisan’s Patio on Hollywood Blvd. We were hoping to interview some of John Waters’ filthiest fans at the director’s Star Ceremony. Waters was finally getting his due with a Star on the Walk of Fame. Please don't forget to like & subscribe!

Dead in Hollywood: Diane Linkletter (Ep. 30)

Go behind the sign to the morning of October 4, 1969 when Diane Linkletter, daughter of TV personality Art Linkletter, jumped out of the 6th floor window of her apartment in the Shoreham Towers in West Hollywood. Diane Linkletter’s mysterious and spectacular death helped spread an urban legend that lives on to this day. You’ve probably even heard it yourself. Diane was born on Halloween in 1948 and died less than a month before her 21st birthday in a shocking climax to a troubled life. This is Dead in Hollywood. Let’s go behind the sign... Ghosts of the Knickerbocker (Stop 8)

Go behind the sign and on location to the Hollywood Knickerbocker Apartments (formally the Knickerbocker Hotel). The Knickerbocker was once the Hotel of the Stars, but as Hollywood Blvd. declined, it dragged the Knickerbocker down with it. It cycled from upscale apartment, to glamorous celebrity hotel, to a deteriorated residence for drug addicts and prostitutes, and finally to housing for seniors.

If you believe the stories, ghosts roam its halls. The massive art deco chandelier hanging from the ceiling in the lobby is the only remaining relic of the Knickerbocker’s once dazzling past. If you stare at it long enough, you might just be transported back to the days of Hollywood Land. Please don't forget to like & subscribe!
